Former director general of National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NMTC) Ziaul Ahsan's activities have been compared with the activities of Bosnia and Herzegovina's 'butcher' Radovan Karadzic. International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)'s chief prosecutor Tajul Islam made the comparison during the hearing of showing arrest of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and eight former officials including NMTC's former DG Ziaul Ahsan at the ITC on Wednesday (November 20) morning. It is learnt that Ziaul Ahsan made aggressive behavior at the tribunal during the hearing, while former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al- Mamun and seven other accused were silent during the hearings.
During the hearing, the chief prosecutor said Ziaul Ahsan was at different posts of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at different times. He was the father of the culture of enforced disappearance, inflicting brutal torture after enforced disappearance, and disposal of the dead bodies after murder. Those who tried to speak out staying in the opposition during the Awami League government, Ziaul Ahsan abducted them in planned way, made them subjected to enforced disappearance, and detained them years after years.
