The defending champions were ousted from the competition by South African club, Stellenbosch on Wednesday. Zamalek entered the quarter-final second leg tie with a slight edge after a goalless draw in Cape Town last week.

Sihle Nduli, however, stunned the White Knights with the winning goal 11 minutes from time. The 65-year-old was appointed by Zamalek head coach in February. Zamalek have won five, drawn six and lost two of their 13 games across all competitions under the Portuguese.
