The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed on Monday that it had launched a criminal probe into a blast on Ryazansky Avenue, which claimed the lives of two men. "The Russian Investigative Committee’s department in Moscow has opened a criminal probe into an incident on Moscow’s Ryazansky Avenue where two men were killed," the committee said in a statement. Earlier, emergency services reported to TASS that the explosion occurred on the first floor of a non-gasified residential building.
The blast damaged facade glazing on the building's first four floors. Investigators and criminal experts are currently working at the site. Emergency officials said an explosive device may have caused the blast, and a search is ongoing.
