As sports betting and other online prediction markets gain popularity, YouTube is tightening restrictions on gambling-related content.According to CNN, YouTube will no longer allow content that directs users to “unapproved” gambling websites, including links, images, text, logos, and verbal references. To be considered “approved,” gambling sites must meet local legal requirements and be reviewed by YouTube or its parent company, Google.

This update expands on YouTube’s existing policy, which already prohibits linking to external sites that violate its rules, including unapproved gambling sites. Starting March 19, users under the age of 18 and those who are not logged in will not be able to view content that depicts or promotes online betting sites.YouTube has long banned content featuring sensational language promising guaranteed winnings or loss recovery from online betting sites.

This move is part of YouTube’s ongoing efforts to refine its content moderation policies.By tightening its restrictions on gambling content, YouTube aims to create a safer and more responsible online environment for its users. For more information on YouTube’s updated policies, visit the official site here.
