YouTube is introducing a new AI tool, which can generate instrumental tracks for videos for free, allowing creators to avoid copyright claims. This feature, demonstrated in a video on the company’s Creator Insider channel, enables users to use the AI to create original instrumental backing music for their videos, TechCrunch reported. The host, Lauren, showed a new tab in the Creator Music beta section on the online video-sharing platform, called Music Assistant.

In the new AI feature, you can enter prompts like "Give me uplifting music for a workout montage" or "Calm and peaceful music with acoustic guitar and flowing piano." The tool then generates several tracks to review and download for use in video. Launched in 2023, Creator Music is a commercial music licensing resource that was created to help users find music to add to their videos and understand the expenses associated with doing so.

However, AI music will provide people with another free alternative. Music Assistant is one of the many AI music-generating tools. Other notable examples include Stability AI's diffusion model for creating background audio and Meta's open-source AudioCraft and MusicGen models, which can synthesise sounds and media from prompts.

The social media site has also experimented with AI music through features like a music remixer that lets users "restyle" popular songs for Shorts and Dream Track, powered by Lyria from Google’s DeepMind, which allows users to hum songs and turn them into music tracks in the style of participating artists like T-Pain.
