Google has not completely discontinued the YouTube Premium Lite; instead, the tech giant is expanding this affordable subscription option to more countries. The Premium Lite plan offers an ad-free experience, providing users with a budget-friendly alternative to the standard premium subscription. It is currently being tested in various regions which eliminates ads and is priced at around half the cost of the regular plan.
However, it's important to note that this version does not include the additional features available in the standard Premium subscription. The upcoming YouTube Premium Lite plan is a paid monthly subscription that allows subscribers to enjoy an uninterrupted viewing experience by removing ads on YouTube. Unlike the standard Premium plans, which consist of YouTube Music, background play, and offline downloads, the Premium Lite plan only eliminates ads.
YouTube described that it only results in “limited ads,” rather than removing them entirely. Previously, the Lite subscription was tested in select markets, but it was later discontinued in late 2023. However, it was not entirely discontinued, as Google confirmed plans at that time to explore options, particularly in Thailand.
Recently, users reported that the plan has resurfaced in Australia and Germany, and they are now able to subscribe. In Australia, singer-songwriter Jonah Manzano shared a screenshot of the plan on Threads. As per the screenshot, the cost for YouTube Premium Lite is around AUD 11.

YouTube Premium, on the other hand, offers an ad-free viewing experience across both YouTube and YouTube Music. Starting at Rs 149 per month, the YouTube Premium offers three subscription plans to cater to different users.
The individual plan starts at Rs 149/month, available as prepaid or monthly, with a free trial for new subscribers. Next comes the family plan, priced at Rs 299 per month. This allows users to add up to five family members aged 13 and older, with a one-month trial available for free.
