A major town centre street has been left splattered with eggs after youths were reportedly 'throwing them from the roof' this afternoon. A large emergency services presence descended in Bolton town centre at around 1pm with reports of people on the roof above Home Bargains on Newport Street. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service deployed an aerial ladder after a cordon was placed behind the scene, near the Octagon multi-storey car park.
Sirens could be heard from all directions with onlookers beginning to gather. Three fire engines arrived on Great Moor Street, opposite Morrisons, with a number of police vehicles also racing to the scene. One GMP officer said: "Kids were on the roof.

A staff member from Signature Vapour on Newport Street, said: "Every now and then we get people on the roof throwing eggs and other kinds of stuff onto the street. "On this occasion, they were throwing them at teenagers [on Newport Street].
"It puts customers off coming in the shop." One shopper said: "I saw them above Home Bargains throwing eggs at people." Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue have been contacted for further comment.
