The latest Prime Video release is the romantic comedy titled You're Cordially Invited led by Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. Directed and written by Nicholas Stoller, the film focuses on the story of two supporting characters at two different weddings aka the bride's sister and another bride's widowed father. They cross paths at the accidently double-booked wedding venue and the fight for the venue ensues.

While the plot seems easy to explore in the comedy genre, the makers did present a new take on the situation. Instead of the fight going on before the wedding proceeds, the arguments go on throughout the wedding and after, taking away the urgency of the incident. The film begins with Will Ferrell's character finding out that his young daughter is getting married to her boyfriend.

While he isn't exactly happy about it, he agrees because it would mean his daughter moves closer to home. On the other hand, Reese finds out her sister is getting married to her erotic dancer boyfriend. Supportive of the decision and wary of how the family would react, she agrees to look after the wedding planning.

Both weddings are accidentally booked at the same resort on a small island for the same weekend. However, it isn't until the weekend, when both families have arrived that they find out about the double-booked venue. With no other choice and the emotional backstories of both families, the duo decide to share the venue and plan according to each other but misunderstanding continue to make things worse for the couples getting married and the leading characters of the film.

The families and friends also add a unique charm to the film but they do not drive the movie forward. As a producer from LA she isn't quite happy about her coarser family in the South but maintains a good relationship with only one of the sisters (bride).

While Ferrell aka Jim's relationship with his daughter is tested as she is about to get married and move away from him forever. Both Reese and Ferell have great chemistry for a comedy but they don't work best as romantic partners since the film does not explore the setting but just hints at it towards the end. Both make for good petty antiheroes and their stories do some full circle with wholesome moments but the film does last the usual comedy you would expect from the usual wedding shenanigans.

There are few hits and many misses including a Jonas Brother cameo, some absurd physical comedy, a drunk Reese sequence, a creepy father-daughter duet of a love song and many more. The misses out weight the hits but there the overall experience of the film isn't lackluster thanks to some good goofy performances.
