Your personal finance questions: Will my employer have to contribute to my privately arranged pension under auto-enrolment rules?

Q I am in my 40s and on the verge of signing into a pension. My employer is not contributing to it. When auto-enrolment commences, is my employer obligated to contribute towards my personal pension under auto-enrolment? Or does the fact I took out a personal pension mean I won’t qualify for any auto-enrolment entitlements?.
