Young quizzers at school in Leigh reach finals of national competition

The team at West Leigh School beat more than 40 other schools, performing "incredibly well" in the face of tough questions. The questions covered a range of topics, including science, geography, art, and literature. A spokesman for the school said: "Despite the challenging nature of the questions, which ranged from science and geography to art and literature, both teams performed incredibly well, demonstrating unrivalled knowledge and fierce competitive spirits.

" After five rounds, one of the two teams made it straight to the finals in Oxford University, in July. The other team is set to compete in the semi-finals in a few weeks. A spokesman added: "Huge congratulations to the eight boys who took part.
