Young, Daniels star as Hawks overcome 21-point deficit

Trae Young had 24 points and Australian Dyson Daniels 15 points and 10 assists, as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Milwaukee Bucks by five points.

Atlanta have overcome a 21-point deficit to defeat Milwaukee by five points with Trae Young, Mouhamed Gueye and Australian Dyson Daniels playing key roles. The Hawks beat the Bucks 115-110 on Friday night, Young posting 24 points and seven assists and Daniels registering 10 assists to go with 15 points. Gueye also had a big night for the Hawks with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks - all season highs.

They all helped Atlanta end a five-game home losing streak and win for only the second time in 11 games overall. Bobby Portis had 26 points and 15 rebounds for Milwaukee, who were missing All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo for a third straight game because of tightness in his left calf. Damian Lillard had 23 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds for the Bucks who have lost five of six.



Kyle Kuzma, playing first game for the Bucks since being traded from the Wizards, had 12 points and seven rebounds in 24 minutes. All 12 of his points came in the first half. In New York, Cam Johnson scored 18 points and D'Angelo Russell had 17 as the Brooklyn Nets limited Miami to nine points in the fourth quarter of their first game since trading Jimmy Butler, beating the Heat 102-86.

Miami shot two for 21 (9.5 per cent) in the fourth quarter and were outscored 31-9 after leading by six through three quarters. Australian Ben Simmons wasn't with the Nets as the No.

1 pick in the 2016 draft and the organisation work on a contract buyout. In Washington, Donovan Mitchell scored 33 points, Evan Mobley added 27 and the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled away late for a 134-124 win over the Wizards. Jordan Poole scored a career-high 45 points for the NBA-worst Wizards, who were trying to extend a season-best winning streak to four games. In other matches, Miles Bridges made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.4 seconds to play as the Charlotte Hornets eked out a 117-116 victory against the visiting San Antonio Spurs to halt a six-game losing streak.

Bridges finished with 25 points and LaMelo Ball pumped in 24 with 10 assists to spark the Hornets in his return from a five-game absence (ankle). Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Toronto Raptors 121-109, while Malik Beasley scored a career-high 36 points as hosts Detroit Pistons rolled past the Philadelphia 76ers 125-112. Tobias Harris added 22 points and nine rebounds for the Pistons, who led by as much as 34 points while ending a two-game skid.
