A six-year-old boy was injured outside a shopping centre when he was hit by an e-scooter rider on the pavement during half-term. The young boy was hit by the scooter rider travelling along the pavement outside the Priory Meadow shopping centre in Hastings last Tuesday afternoon. Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses after the rider, 40, was reported for driving without insurance and without due care and attention.
A spokesman for the force said they had seized the e-scooter. Sussex Police said the incident occurred just after 4.15pm when the rider was heading eastbound along the road on October 29.
The boy was treated for minor injuries at the scene. A spokesman for the force said: "Police are urging anyone who saw what happened or captured it on camera to report it online or call 101, quoting crime reference 47240211356. "Officers would also like to remind the public that it is illegal to ride an e-scooter on the road or in public spaces, and any offenders could be liable to a fixed penalty notice and points on their licence.
