They brought the children's classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett to life for staff and residents at Magnolia Court in Golders Green with their vibrant costumes and graceful choreography set to orchestral music. The ballet, which the company has performed at Sadler's Wells, tells the story of young Mary Lennox, who travels to England from India after her mother’s death to live with her uncle. There she discovers she has a cousin, Colin, and also finds a garden behind a wall that she resolves to bring back to life.
“The performance was truly captivating,” Magnolia’s manager Cosmin Tiriteu said. “We were thrilled to welcome the children’s ballet and to enjoy the beautiful artistry of these talented young dancers.” The London Children’s Ballet is made up of youngsters aged nine to 15 who regularly stage original ballet productions based on classic children’s stories in the West End.
It also runs an outreach programme performing dance for communities in venues like care homes that do not have access to the theatre..
