In my recent “First Bite” about the new Kase x Noko , I pointed out what a tremendous value the 14-course omakase experience is, and diners have quickly filled up the new restaurant’s reservation books for more than a month in advance. But I also mentioned that there is a difference between the meal at Kase and more elevated and experienced sushi chefs. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, and Nashville is now blessed with several levels of available omakase options.
First Bite: Kase x Noko New venture from team behind breakout restaurant Noko offers fantastic nigiri at remarkable prices However, the chance to experience sushi service from a renowned master of the craft is rare indeed. Chef Yoshikazu "Yoshi" Yanome has roots in Japan’s Edomae sushi tradition, working with fresh and seasonal fish and seafood straight from the waters around Tokyo. Revered for his meticulous craftsmanship, Chef Yoshi was named the best “sushiman” in Spain in 2015 and was appointed a goodwill ambassador of Japanese cuisine by the Japanese government this year.
Yanome will bring his knives from Kaido, his tiny 10-seat restaurant in Spain, to Nashville for two nights of collaborative dinners with the talented staff at Sushi | Bar at 610 Magazine St. on Jan. 20 and 21.
Together with the Sushi | Bar staff, Yanome will present a 20-course omakase dinner with 10 courses from each restaurant team. The intimate dinner will be offered six times each evening with 12 diners at each seating, and the team from Sushi | Bar will return the favor with a reciprocal visit to Kaido in Valencia later in 2025. Reservations for this exclusive dinner are available via Tock .
Tickets are $295 per person, and patrons will be charged a $100 deposit at the time of reservation. Guests also have the option to pair dishes with premium beverage options and from Sushi | Bar’s extensive sake list. Guests are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes early to enjoy a complimentary welcome cocktail to ease into their dining experience.
