Yellow weather warning issued as heavy rain set to hit London across two days

The Met Office has warned of heavy rain and potential delays and cancellations to public transport as a yellow weather warning is in place across London.

The warnings, covering much of England and and all of Wales at times, are in place from 12pm today (September 22) until 11.59pm on September 23. According to the Met Office, the heavy rain "will bring the potential for disruption" to the highlighted regions across both days.

People in the affected areas are advised that flooding and significant delays and cancellations to public transport services are possible. The weather forecaster also shared that there is a "small chance of power cuts" to some homes and businesses. twitter.com/4BuWgMPIMT Sharing further details on the warning for September 22, the Met Office added: "There is potential right across this highlighted region for some places to see 40-70 mm in 2-3 hours, with a chance that a few places could receive 80-100 mm through the course of the day." On Monday (September 23), the estimated rainfall has dropped to 30-50mm falling in six hours or less in any part of the highlighted warning area.

In some places, 80-100mm of rain is forecast to fall over a period of twelve to 24 hours however at the time of writing, there is still some uncertainty about which areas will be most impacted. Essex has also been included in the listed affected areas.
