Yellow warning issued as Storm Bert hits county with 65mph winds

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in Norfolk as Storm Bert hits the county with gusts of 65mph.

A yellow weather warning has been issued as Storm Bert continues to hit the county with gusts of up to 65mph. The second storm of the season arrived in the county on Saturday with the Met Office warning of strong winds and disruptive weather for the weekend. The agency has issued a new yellow weather warning for winds covering central and eastern part of the country including Norfolk until 9pm on Sunday.

READ MORE: Events cancelled as Norfolk set to be battered by 60mph winds from Storm Bert A spokesman for the Met Office said: "South to southwesterly winds will be strong and gusty throughout Sunday, easing from the west through the afternoon and early evening as a band of heavy rain associated with a weather front clears eastwards." Gusts of up to 55mph could hit inland villages and towns while areas on the coast could see winds of up to 65mph . The weather is likely to cause delays to road and rail travel and some bus services may also be affected with journeys taking longer.



Coastal routes and communities could be affected by spray and large waves while short term loss of power and other services is possible..
