KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Yasshmita Jadish Kumar lived up to her top billing by defeating Iran's Feresteh Eghtedari in the final of the US$6,000 (RM26,548) Dynam Cup Yokohama Open in Japan today. The 20-year-old Bristol-based Yasshmita won 11-2, 11-6, 11-8. In the semi-finals, she beat Eum Hwayeong of South Korea 11-6, 11-7, 11-7.
Yasshmita thanked her English coach, John Welton, for her success. She will play in the Asian qualifier in Kuala Lumpur from April 17-20 for the World Championships. Welton said: "We saw Yasshmita's brand of squash and her style.
