Yashasvi Jaiswal justified the tag of 'new king' as he scored a brilliant hundred in the second innings of the first Test in Perth. After being dismissed for a duck in the first innings, Jaiswal made Australia pay and put India on top. This was Jaiswal's 4th Test hundred and first in Australia.

Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Aussie media dubbed Jaiswal as the new king, however, a failure in the first innings raised doubts if he could be successful in difficult conditions against a quality bowling attack, but Jaiswal came out with flying colours in just his second innings on the Australian soil. The century helped Yashasvi Jaiswal join a rare list of Indian players to score a hundred at Perth. Before Jaiswal, Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli had also scored a hundred in Perth.

Virat Kohli and Jaiswal are the only players to have scored a hundred at the Optus Stadium while Gavaskar, Amarnath and Tendulkar slammed centuries at the WACA.
