With two important holidays this month, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on what makes me feel grateful. To those in our community who have served our country with honor—thank you. Every day, and especially on Veterans Day, D38 is proud to call you our friends and family.
Students and staff celebrated veterans in our community during special assemblies across the district on Nov. 11 and in the words of one of our students, “Everybody is very thankful for you, and our country would not be the same without you.” It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is only about a week away, and I cannot overstate how thankful I am for everyone in the D38 community.
During my first 100 days as superintendent of Lewis-Palmer School District 38, I’ve made it a priority to visit every D38 campus multiple times, connecting with staff and witnessing firsthand the remarkable impact our staff have on students. During this time, I learned many things about our district. First and foremost, I have learned that D38 truly is a beautiful place that feels like home to me.
From connecting with staff in our schools and district offices, to meeting families and community members, every interaction has reinforced my decision to join Lewis-Palmer School District 38. Thank you to everyone who has made me feel welcome and proud to lead this district. I’ve seen countless examples of how smoothly this district operates, and how genuinely our staff cares.
I often encourage employees to keep a list of favorite stories to share with friends and family to help spread the good news about our district whenever the opportunity arises. My list keeps growing, thanks to everything I’ve witnessed in all our buildings. In my next 100 days and beyond, I plan to roll up my sleeves and continue to work alongside D38 staff on the following key areas: • Operationalize our strategic plan and actualize it in a three-year plan focused on our six strategic priorities • Determine the future of our Grace Best building with our Board of Education and ensure that current programs there are transitioned to new learning environments • Bring our vision for the Career & Innovation Center to life and provide meaningful programming for our students at the new facility These key areas will bring the greatest benefits to everyone in our D38 community.
By focusing on academic excellence and launching our Career & Innovation Center, students in all grade levels will benefit. Our staff will also see positive results as we prioritize people-centered goals and building mutually beneficial relationships. For the broader community, we’ll soon make an important decision regarding the Grace Best building and how we as a district will move forward.
In closing, please know that I truly value feedback from everyone—our students, staff, families, and our community. When you see me out and about, say hello and share what’s on your mind. If interested, I also invite you to call our district office to schedule a time to come by and meet with me.
I truly believe the best way for us to accomplish great things and see the results of hard work, is by working together. Thank you to the entire D38 community for the best, first 100 days. I hope you enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday!.
