Marvel has two currently untitled films set for 2027 after “Avengers: Secret Wars” hits in May – one for July 23rd and the other for November 5th. The November one is believed to be the “X-Men” reboot and now a new listing on the Film and Television Industry Alliance database indicates that the project is aiming to begin shooting in the UK on October 6th. The listing also indicates “The Wheel of Time” showrunner Rafe Judkins and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” scribe Michael Lesslie are attached as writers.
Both were rumored to be in contention back in May last year, with Leslie thought to have ‘won out’. Marvel has long touted that the ‘Mutant Saga’ will immediately follow in the wake of the ‘Multiverse Saga’ which will end with “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027. Those next two “Avengers” films, especially ‘Secret Wars’ are expected to potentially introduce members of the X-Men to the MCU before their own solo film.
Also today, has heard the rumor that Harris Dickinson (“Babygirl,” “Triangle of Sadness”) was being eyed for the role of Cyclops. Sneider broke the report last month that Sadie Sink is in the running for Jean Grey. If the October 2025 start of shooting date is accurate, the film could potentially make the earlier July 2027 date set aside for an MCU entry, but it will depend what the other film is with “Black Panther 3,” “Blade,” “Doctor Strange 3” and “Shang-Chi 2” all potential candidates.
