Avowed, the upcoming fantasy RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment now has a release date. It will be released on Xbox and PC, and Game Pass on February 18, 2025, and it’s also available for pre-order starting today for $69.99.

Avowed was officially announced during , two years after Microsoft announced the acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment. The studio known for Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity has since released the co-op survival game Grounded and the narrative adventure Pentiment in 2022. Avowed, however, should mark the studio’s return to its RPG roots.

Avowed was initially expected to be released in fall 2024, but Microsoft chose to delay it as its plate was already full for the holiday season: Since September, the company released Age of Mythology: Retold, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are also coming before the end of the year. If Avowed will launch on day one on PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, players who purchase the $24.99 Premium Upgrade Edition will get up to dive days of early access.

The game’s Premium Upgrade Edition also includes 2 sets of bonus skins for companions and access to the Avowed digital artbook and original soundtrack. This is apparently a first for an Xbox Game Studios title, but the PC version of Avowed is in addition to the Microsoft Store and Steam. If it may have been tempting for Microsoft to consolidate its different digital game distribution platforms, it does look like the company will let Battle.
