Hip-hop superstar Wyclef Jean is open to having a conversation with President Donald Trump about the Commander-in-Chief’s recent mass deportation orders. The Fugees member, who is a proud Haitian immigrant, spoke on Trump’s controversial approach to immigration enforcement at the 2025 Music Will Benefit Concert in New York City on Wednesday, April 9. “I’m looking at America as a whole.
A country of immigrants,” Wyclef exclusively told The Mirror US at the special event. Wyclef admitted that the only way for change to be made is for certain people, such as himself, to “be in the conversation,” which he would like to do. “In order for us to have to conversation we have to be in the conversation so I look forward to going to the White House and having a conversation with Donald trump, with Marco Rubio, with Elon musk because we have to be part of a conversation and being part of the conversation.

He added, “ So I think it's important to be a part of the conversation, agree to disagree.” Wyclef went on to talk about his heritage, illustrating how he wasn’t a criminal like how immigrants are often painted to be in conservative news media. “I'm a person who was born in Haiti and came here and respected all of the rules and I ain't never been in no jail, and all I wanna say is immigrants are such beautiful people,” he said.
"Our parents bring us here, and they need to work with us,” Wyclef explained. He also added: “We need peace in Haiti the whole country not just one side of it, the whole thing.” Early last month, The Mirror Us reported that the Trump administration was planning on revoking the temporary legal status of almost 240,000 Ukrainians who left the country after the brutal war with Russia.
Trump’s planned revocation of protections for Ukrainians was reportedly in process before he publicly feuded with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in March. The Republican politico has completely flipped the script on the war-torn nation, taking away support for the country, which is the total opposite of the unwavering support ex-President Joe Biden showed for Ukraine. Additionally, Trump went as far as to freeze American military aid to Kyiv and ban Britain from sharing intelligence from Washington, D.
