IRELAND AM star Muireann O’Connell has stepped out in a jaw-dropping gown for a Christmas Gala. The Virgin Media star attended the Cliona's Christmas Gala last night at The Marker Hotel in Dublin. Cliona’s Foundation is a National charity that provides financial assistance directly to parents of children with life-limiting or chronic complex care needs.

The Foundation was set up by Brendan and Terry Ring, after the death of their daughter Cliona, from an inoperable brain tumour in 2006 aged 16. Ticket proceeds and donations from the black-tie event are going to help support families caring for their seriously sick child. Muireann was the MC for the night and there was also a live auction hosted by comedian Alan Shortt.

The Limerick beauty said she was "delighted" to be apart of the event and to support the charity. The popular presenter took to Instagram to share some stunning snaps of herself all dolled up for the special occasion. Muireann looked very glamorous wearing a red one-shoulder satin gown.

She got the fabulous frock from The Stables Birr, and it currently retails for €165. The former radio star captioned her post: "I know I’m here with the dress on and all that but it really is an honour to do anything for Brendan and Terry Ring who set this up after their daughter, Cliona, died in 2006 and made it their mission to help other families going through what they had to endure." Muireann's friends and fans all loved her stylish outfit and raced to the comment section with compliments.

Mandy said: "Wow Muireann this is stunning on you." Nessa wrote: "That dress is amazing!!" Sian commented: "Best of luck with the event. A great cause, you look amazing too.

" Patricia remarked: "Knockout!" Muireann recently travelled down to her home county in Limerick this weekend to visit her elderly mother, Marie. She had been on the cover of RTE Guide and got a copy for her mum to have a look at. The popular presenter shared a video of Marie looking through the magazine over on Instagram.

Muireann said: "She was just saying that she hadn't had a chance to look, I'm on the RTE Guide." Looking at some of the pictures of Muireann posing, she explained: "And I was just looking it and I was like, 'Oh, I'm not too sure about that one', 'Oh, I like that one'. "And I went, 'Oh my God, you're there'.

" Muireann pointed out the heart-melting photo of herself and her mum that made it on the magazine and said: "Are you delighted you're in the RTE Guide?".
