Employees of a Bolton-based business were shocked after a helicopter whisked them away from a work day.

Workers for electrical online retailer AO found themselves flying high when they turned up to work - by being whisked away from their desk and into a helicopter. Senior promotional manager James Fairclough and promotions planner Vesta Anderson were surprised with confetti when they got to their desks at AO on Friday morning (March 21). They were then taken on a helicopter ride over Bolton, including taking in spectacular aerial views of local landmarks such as Rivington Pike and Winter Hill.

James said: "I still can't quite believe it! When I arrived at the office this morning, I could have never imagined that I'd be flying over it in a helicopter a few hours later." The company based in Middlebrook is surprising its employees after it improved its Trustpilot score to 4.9 out of 5 from nearly 750,000 reviews.

This includes 94% "excellent" or "good" ratings and says the company puts them ahead of competitors Currys (4.3), John Lewis (4.1) and Argos (4.

0) AO got more five-star reviews than all three of these businesses combined. To celebrate the milestone, the retailer is surprising some of the teams named in positive reviews to surprise experiences. The first employees to be rewarded were James and Vesta from the trade marketing team, who set deals for customers.

uk James said: "Vesta is a brilliant asset to the team, so to be able to share the experience with her is really special. "People who know me know it's not often that I'm lost for words, but I'm totally speechless!" In the next few weeks, AO will be surprising employees in other departments such as sales and logistics to recognise them for their efforts. What the surprises are, however, is being kept tightly under wraps.
