Worker dies of burns

Chennai: A guest worker who suffered 80% burns in a boiler blast at a private firm in Gummidipoondi died of the injuries on Saturday. Police said Akhilesh Yadav from Uttar Pradesh was employed at a private iron rod manufacturing company in Pathapalayam village near the Sipcot unit in Gummidipoondi. While the workers were near a furnace to melt iron scrap, the molten iron splashed and fell on Akhilesh Yadav and a few other workers.

The injured workers were rushed to the Govt Stanley Hospital (GSH), where Akhilesh Yadav died of the burn injuries on Saturday night. Gummidipoondi Sipcot police registered a case..
