WORK is taking place on a new drive-thru Starbucks at an A55 service station in Flintshire. The development is taking place at the Singing Kettle services at Junction 31 Caerwys. A spokesperson for Gastronomy Restaurants Ltd & Café Fortune Ltd, said: "The current development on site is for a new Starbucks drive-thru via our sister company Café Fortune Ltd whom are an approved licensee for Starbucks in the UK, currently operating 25 sites including those at Gateway services (Northop), Llandudno, Rhuddlan and Bangor.

"We will also be installing 12 electric vehicle charge points." Planning permission for a drive-thru Starbucks and KFC restaurant were back in 2021. Gastronomy Restaurants Ltd, a KFC franchise, was unable to provide an update on if and when a KFC restaurant will be built at the services.

The planning application had been initially rejected by Flintshire Council's planning department amid concerns on the impact on the surrounding countryside, as well as traffic and parking problems. However, Gastronomy Foods later appealed as it said the scheme would result in the creation of 60 jobs and cater to holidaymakers who use the busy expressway to travel along the North Wales coast..
