Mumbai: Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is racing ahead in Maharashtra Assembly elections and is all set to trump Uddhav Thackeray-led side to claim power. As counting of votes is underway in Maharashtra, an old video of Shinde is going viral where he says he will not let a single MLA lose. Responding to Uddhav Thackeray's statement that rebel Shiv Sena MLAs should face elections, CM Eknath Shinde said, without naming Thackeray, that he would quit politics if even a single one of 40 Sena MLAs who had backed him lost the next elections.

“It is my responsibility now to take care of these MLAs. I will give them everything and time to resolve the issues of their constituencies. People say, all 50 MLAs who went against Uddhav Thackeray will lose the elections now as per the past history of Sena.

However, I want to tell these people, even if one MLA loses the elections, I will embrace political Sanyas permanently,” Shinde said. Uddhav had remarked earlier that the rebels would lose if they contested polls. Shinde said, "It is said that none of the rebel MLAs will be elected.

Eknath Shinde Leading Real Sena? Trends indicate that the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, allied with the BJP and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, has taken the lead over the Uddhav Thackeray faction, with the Mahayuti alliance showing a strong performance across the state. These initial numbers, reported just two hours into the counting process, suggest a significant advantage for the ruling alliance. However, with counting still underway, the results remain fluid, and the numbers may shift as the process progresses throughout the day.

What was once a united Shiv Sena, synonymous with Balasaheb Thackeray's legacy, is now a divided house vying for dominance in one of India’s most politically vibrant states. What did the exit poll results say? Most exit polls such as Chanakya Strategies, Pradeep Gupta's Axis My India, P-MARQ predicted a return of the BJP-led Mahayuti government, crediting the government's pro-poor and women schemes such as ‘Ladki Bahin’ just ahead of the Maharashtra Election Results. The MVA is expected to close the gap as the Maharashtra Election Results are declared on November 23.

Maharashtra went to a single phase polling on November 20 with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23, a day before the term of the current 288-member Assembly ends. The state will see a direct fight between the ruling Maha Yuti combine which includes Shiv Sena (Shinde), BJP and NCP (Ajit Pawar) drawn against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party NCP (Sharad Pawar).
