WILLMAR — A hot hand off the bench helped the Gustavus Adolphus JV secure a win over the Ridgewater women’s basketball team on Friday night. Guard Ava Westerman scored a game-high 21 points in 16 minutes to vault the Gusties to a 94-50 victory at Ridgewater College. Westerman was 7 of 8 from 3-point range.
She is a sophomore from Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Along with Westerman, Kendyl Queensland (19), Bella DeHaan (12) and Anna Goodman (10) also finished in doubles figures. Gustavus shot 57.
6% from the field. Up 40-28 at halftime, the Gusties pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Ridgewater 30-9. Grace Jackson and Kaydence Bertram led a Warriors squad that was limited to a six-player rotation in scoring.
Jackson and Bertram both finished with 13 points. Jackson is a freshman from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. Bertram is a freshman from Melrose.
Julia Hines and Nevaeh Rahm both had seven points. Hines is a freshman from Randolph. Rahm is a freshman from Fairmont.
The Warriors host the Concordia-Moorhead JV at 7 p.m. Monday.
