Ironing is a chore that many would all gladly dodge. Consumer research shows that about 30 per cent of young adults aged between 18 and 34 are ditching the iron, with no intention to straighten out their creases. Yet, for those bogged down by a seemingly endless pile of office shirts, one savvy woman has taken to social media to share a game-changing trick that promises to make short work of your ironing stash.

It involves a cheap kitchen staple costing just 39p. Self-styled tidying expert Caroline Solomon, aka @NeatCaroline on the Instagram , swears by using tin foil to breeze through the otherwise tedious ordeal. Chatting up her 245,000 followers, she instructed: "Grab your ironing board and some aluminium foil, peel off the cover and lay down a sheet of aluminium.

" The home organization expert hailed the humble tin foil as the 'magic ingredient', ensuring you face the shiny side up for optimum effect. Slip the cover back over the board once the foil's in place, and crack on with your ironing like usual. What's the deal with the foil? Caroline breaks it down: "Aluminium is a great thermal conductor so it speeds up ironing, it basically irons both sides at the same time.

" This sneaky method means the foil bounces heat right back at the underside of your clothes, doubling up your ironing efforts. The video quickly racked up more than 500 likes, with users flocking to the comments section to share their thoughts on the clever trick. One user enthused: "Definitely going to try! Thanks," while another queried: "Where did you learn this ? Or did you come up with this idea ? Clever!" In response to a comment, Caroline revealed she was inspired to try the ingenious method after watching the Today Show.
