A women who said she ‘couldn’t stand’ to look at herself in the mirror now enjoys a healthier lifestyle after starting her weight loss journey. Following years of unsuccessful diets and bad habits, Alison White Morpeth, 57 of Moulton , is now celebrating her latest achievements. Since joining Spalding’s Slimming World group, Alison is now at her target weight after losing one stone, 10lb, and has started supporting other members of the group.

Alison said she was desperately unhappy with her weight and ‘couldn’t stand’ to see it in the mirror. She said: “Weight has always been an issue for me. “I had always been active from teenage years and enjoyed going to the gym and running for miles, but I also loved food and alcohol – I tried so many diets.

“Last summer a friend showed me a picture she took of me on holiday and I was mortified to see how big I had got – that’s when I decided to join Slimming World. “The group was really welcoming and friendly and everyone shares their ups and downs, food tips, recipes and their own journeys. “I also love sharing my recipes with other members on the Facebook group, as it means we can all support each other.

” In her first week, Alison lost 2.5lb and started searching for healthier options whilst food shopping and now enjoys hula hooping and cycling. The lifestyle change has made her more aware of cooking meals from fresh and swapping unhealthy snacks.

“I used to have a huge packet of crisps daily, all sorts of biscuits, pork pies, sausage rolls and even a couple of slices of bread and butter whilst I made my husband’s packed lunch – I have now swapped theses snacks to fruit,” she added. “I’m amazed that I can get back into my pretty tops and I feel so proud of how far I have come.”.
