Woman, kin booked for 13L fraud

Ludhiana: Police filed a case against a woman and her parents for duping her husband of Rs 13 lakh on the pretext of taking him to Canada but allegedly sending a divorce notice by e-mail from there. The accused have been identified as Loveleen Kaur and her parents, Ravinder Singh of Mohalla Kodian in Raikot and Gurmeet Kaur. The complainant, Jasvir Singh of Bassiyan village filed a complaint on September 7.

He told the police that he got married to Loveleen because he wanted to go to Canada and both families decided before the wedding that Loveleen would help him. Loveleen’s family allegedly took Rs 13 lakh to send her to Canada. Once there, she applied for his immigration but allegedly withdrew the file without informing him.



He claimed that her parents demanded more money and said that if the payment was not made, Loveleen would break up with him. Thereafter, he said that Loveleen sent him divorce papers on e-mail. Police said that a case had been filed against the accused and her parents on charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy .
