Plain clothes police officers from Dorchester Police were alerted to a woman 'acting suspiciously' yesterday afternoon inside a town centre shop. The suspect was stopped and searched and stolen items were found and returned to several different shops in the town centre. A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: "Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team have spent the afternoon in plain clothes on foot patrol in the town centre.
"One female was stopped and searched after she was seen acting suspiciously inside a shop. "Suspected stolen items were recovered during the search and returned to several shops by officers. "The female has been reported for shoplifting.
Regular patrols will continue.".
