A woman called her ex-partner a "rapist" in a series of vile online posts. Rebecca Hooper, 43, had known the victim for 15 years and previously had a short relationship with him. Prosecutor Abdallah Barakat told Cardiff Crown Court that on December 19, 20 and 24, 2024 Hooper made a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter , with photos of a man circled in red and yellow accusing him of being a "rapist.
" In further posts Hooper mentioned the NHS and the specific hospital where the victim works as well as the rugby club his son plays for and the leisure centre where he goes swimming to help his mental health. Hooper, of Dunraven Place, Ogmore Vale, Bridgend also accused the victim of preying on vulnerable women and called him "scum." When interviewed about the offence Hooper said she shared the posts to "give her justice and make her feel better.

The posts were a breach of a restraining order against the defendant imposed in July last year for ten years for stalking the same ex-partner and accusing him of rape . For the previous offence Hooper was sentenced to 16 months in prison suspended for 24 months and was therefore also in breach of this suspended sentence.
A statement read on behalf of the victim said: "When my friend rang me to tell me about the posts it caused instant shock and anxiety to the point where my partner was sick." He said he has two children aged 18 and 24 who are showing signs of trauma as their dad has been called a rapist for everyone to see and said it had turned the family's life "upside down." The victim added that the rugby club has been part of his whole life but he now feels unable to go and he always has to work in pairs at work because he doesn't know if she will appear.
He added: "I'm in constant fear for my family, our property and our cars. She previously placed a tracking device on our vehicle and slashed my tyres." James Evans, for Hooper, said his client was "a person who presents very unusually" and suffers from anxiety, depression and a personality disorder.
He said the offences were committed over a very short period of time and that Hooper and her partner are now putting their home on the market to leave the area and avoid any further interaction with the victim. Judge Eugene Egan said: "She has infiltrated his home life, his work life and his social life." Sentencing, Mr Egan said: "You deliberately breached the order in a mean-spirited way.
You called him a rapist, you must pause and think about the damage that did to him. This has all had a profound impact on him. It must stop and it stops now.
" Hooper was sentenced to ten months in prison suspended for 24 months and given a £500 fine for the breach of a suspended sentence. Hooper was also ordered to attend 200 hours of unpaid work and complete ten days of rehabilitation activity days.
