Pune: A woman apprehended a daily wage worker when he tried to snatch her chain at a fair in Chikhali on Wednesday night. The 25-year-old suspect, Bhima Jadhav of More Vasti in Chikhali, was later handed over to the Chikhali police. An officer from the Chikhali police said the woman was going around the fair at Sane Chowk in Chikhali on Wednesday night.
The daily wage worker followed her at the fair venue. "When she reached near a stall around 8.30pm, the suspect tried to snatch her gold chain," the officer said.
He said the alert woman held his hand immediately and nabbed him. "When she raised an alarm, other people in the fair rushed towards them and held the suspect," the officer said. The daily wage worker, Jadhav, has been arrested under Section 309 (5) [attempt to commit robbery] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
