BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- A scorned woman is accused of pulling a gun on her former boyfriend in a local apartment garage, while the man is accused of attempting to strangle his ex. All of this took place in front of the man’s new girlfriend. At 10:20 p.

m. Sept. 12, a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had choked her while the two were in the garage of the apartment building at 23305 Chagrin Blvd.

The woman told police that the man was wearing a white shirt and orange shorts and that he was still somewhere on the property. She said she had confronted the man about being unfaithful and he responded by choking her, nearly causing her to pass out. A 32-year-old female friend of the woman was also present and said she observed the assault.

Given a description of the man’s car, police found it in the lot. On top of the driver’s seat was a note that read, “Why must you play with me? You really think I’m a joke? Well let’s play . .

. GAME ON!!!” The woman said that the man’s new girlfriend lived in the Chagrin Boulevard apartment. She photographed the new girlfriend’s license plate and gave it to police.

Officers found the new girlfriend’s apartment unit in the building and knocked on the door. The new girlfriend answered and, when asked, said the man was inside. The man denied strangling his former girlfriend.

He told police that he and his new girlfriend had returned to her apartment’s garage in her car and that he was then confronted by his former girlfriend, who yelled and then pointed a gun at him. He said he pushed her aside to try and walk away. Like the former girlfriend, the man was found by officers to have scratch marks on his neck.

The man said he was attacked by his ex. When asked about the note in his car, the man said he had not seen it. He said that it had to have been left there by his ex-girlfriend.

Police arrested the man, 41, of Bedford, for domestic violence and strangulation. The current girlfriend, 43, corroborated the man’s story, stating that the former girlfriend approached them in the garage and pulled out a gun. She provided police video she took of the woman brandishing the gun.

Officers then went to the ex-girlfriend’s apartment, located at a nearby Chagrin Boulevard address, confiscated the gun from her bedroom, and arrested her on charges of domestic violence and aggravated assault. Read more from the Sun Press..
