Man United might well be odds-on for this but they do look like a bit of a value play. They are tough to predict, even before Ruben Amorim took over but their successive losses (4-3 to Tottenham and 3-0 to Bournemouth) followed a huge win over Man City. Individual brilliance can be the difference in some games and that was the case against City, while the team performance against Bournemouth was just all over the place - but a game that could have had an entirely different story if they were actually clinical.
Wolves shocked a few with a 3-0 over Leicester, where the score line probably flattered them a little but still didn't downplay they should have won thanks to three first half goals. Vitor Pereira couldn't have started his reign as Wolves boss any better, especially coming into a side that had such issues after losing 2-1 to Ipswich just last week. All that can boil down to a big Man United win on Boxing Day, as the day often sees some crazy results.
United have been hinting at a big win for a while with the way they attack well. Wolves were still open at the back at times but ultimately punished Leicester for the same thing. United should be a bit more resilient now they had a wake up call from both Tottenham and Bournemouth, with two newer managers going head to head with Amorim taking the advantage with more experience and time to develop his style.
Amad Diallo has been in fine form and should be in the thick of things again after creating and netting against City and then scoring again against Spurs. Rasmus Hojlund hasn't quite been able to score like Amorim's system should produce, but he's been close and this looks like a game suited to his style where there should also be plenty of challenges and cards in a physical encounter.
