This weekend saw Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson become just the second ever unanimous MVP in WNBA history. The six-time All-Star capped her remarkable 2024 season by receiving all 67 first-place votes. But some were a bit confused when they looked further down the ballot and saw Angel Reese's name.

Reese received a fourth-place vote from one basketball writer for her noteworthy rookie season — which got quite a bit of backlash on social media. "Not trying to start anything but voting Angel Reese 4th for MVP is neglecting professional responsibility," Sports Illustrated's Robin Lundberg posted to X. Others agreed.

"They should lose their vote," a user said. "A lot of very unserious voters out there," another replied. "That's ridiculous," a fan commented.

"No shot someone voted angel 4th place ?????" another person asked. "You're trolling..

. no way someone gave her 4th." "I don't wanna take anything away from the season Angel had and the records she accomplished, but if anyone on the Sky deserved a MVP vote it was Chennedy Carter," another fan argued.

Icon Sportswire/Getty Images While Reese did have a spectacular rookie campaign in which she set the league's all-time mark for rebounding, the Sky finished 14 games under .500 and her field goal percentage left a lot to be desired. That doesn't mean that the future isn't still bright for Chicago's No.

7 pick. If she continues on this track it won't be the only time we hear her name in more substantive MVP conversations. Related: Final Voting For 2024 WNBA Rookie Of The Year Released.
