WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — Since late September, a majority of our Central Texas counties were issued burn bans due to weeks of very dry conditions. Burn bans stayed in effect throughout October as it was one of Austin's warmest and driest. However, with a couple of additional inches of rain added to the region in November, and more rains in the forecast this weekend , Williamson County has decided to lift the burn ban put in place on Sept.
25. While the wetter pattern will be good for long-standing dryness, we still have plenty of drought issues here in Central Texas. Severe and extreme drought remains consistent throughout Williamson, Travis, Hays, and Fayette counties.
On breezy and dry days we'll still need to watch out for high wildfire risks. In their announcement, Williamson County officials still urged exercising caution during any outdoor burning activity. Widespread scattered showers and cooler weather this weekend will thankfully keep fire weather concerns at bay.
We will eventually see the return of sunny and dry weather for the start of next week..
