The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and weather advisories across six states , expecting snowfall and hazardous road conditions. According to the Weather Prediction Center at NWS, blizzards, strong winds, and periods of heavy snow will impact Northeast US on Wednesday and Thursday. "A strong system will lead to a potent Arctic cold front crossing the Great Lakes on Wednesday and Northeast early Thursday, which will produce intense bursts of snow and gusty winds," their social media post said .

In areas more prone to lake-effect snow, "blizzard conditions may make travel treacherous and life-threatening," with the possibility of gusty winds bringing down trees and causing power outages. From interior New England to northern Maine, areas may receive up to one to two feet of snow in lake-effect belts. States that have received winter warnings include Michigan, Indiana, Alaska, New York , Minnesota, and Tennessee.
