Windsor police were engaged in standoff in Friday afternoon

Article content Several officers from the Windsor Police Service were engaged in a standoff outside a townhouse in the 1200 block of Central Avenue Friday afternoon. Police posted on X shortly after 3 p.m that officers were involved in an “active investigation” and that the road was closed between Ontario and Franklin Street.

The public was asked to avoid the area. Several heavily armed officers could be seen at the location. A man was seen exiting the townhouse while an officer kept his gun trained on him.



By 6:30 p.m. police posted that the investigation was complete and that the road was re-opened.

There was no details released on what caused the standoff, whether there were any injuries or whether anyone was arrested..
