Garrett Wilsonrecorded two of the greatest catches of his young career to help the New York Jets end their five-game losing streak last week. Now, the league is ready to give the former Offensive Rookie of the Year his flowers. Ed Mulholland-Imagn Images Wilson won the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week for his nine-catch, 90-yard, and two-touchdown performance in New York's 21-13 win against the Houston Texans last Thursday.
The former Ohio State product recorded two one-handed catches for touchdowns during the win. The first came with him using his outstretched right hand to reel in a pass and ran in for a 20-yard score. The second was easily the catch of the year.
Down 10-7, Wilson lept up on third and long and pulled down another one-handed grab - this time getting his foot and shin down in time to complete the catch and to give the team the lead for good. His latest award also shows that he is on the precipice of a breakout that many expected to begin the season moving forward. Through the first nine games this season, Wilson has recorded 60 catches for 663 yards and five touchdowns.
