People across the county are preparing to look to the skies tonight in the hopes of witnessing a spectacular Northern Lights display. The Met Office has predicted auroral activity to peak tonight and into tomorrow morning making the possibility of an illuminated sky. Tonight's lights are due to a recent solar expulsion , called a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), creating the chance to see the lights with the naked eye.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Aurora activity is expected to peak on Monday following the forecast arrival of a coronal mass ejection. Grab your big coat and your cameras as you may spot the Northern Lights this week with clear skies in the forecast ✨ Sightings possible with the naked eye in the north, with a chance of sightings further south - these more likely with a long exposure camera 📷 pic.twitter.
