The Kansas City Chiefs' undefeated streak ended on Sunday in a 30-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. A lot of the Chiefs' struggles throughout the start of the season came into the fold in their first loss, especially on offense. Patrick Mahomes had his third game of the season (and his career) with under 200 passing yards and an interception.
Mahomes finished with 196 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images With Kansas City's bye week already behind them, they won't have many other chances to rest, especially if they lose the top seed in the AFC to Buffalo. Coach Andy Reid seemed to acknowledge that after the game, claiming that the coaches may "back off" in upcoming practices.
"You've got to make sure that you're sharp, whether it's assignments or execution, and we can do better in that area," Reid said. "We can do better as coaches of making sure our guys can be put in positions to do better and to maybe back off a little bit on certain things that we've been doing, to help the players out so that they can play a little bit faster." "(Steve) Spags, I haven't gone through it with him yet, but they're little things, but sometimes little things add up." While many fans may be concerned with the team toning down their intensity in the coming weeks, Reid and the Chiefs coaching staff deserve a bit of grace as they pursue their third-straight Super Bowl.
