There's a lot of blame to go around when it comes to the New York Jets ' struggles so far this season. On both offense and defense, there are top-flight players that have not lived up to fans' expectations. Nevertheless, there is one player that absolutely needs to be consistent in order for the Jets to turn it around after a 2-5 season start.
Running back Breece Hall is the main factor for the Jets to get back on track. Part of his struggles is due to the offensive line being inefficient in the run game. That being said, he had a worse offensive line last season and has a better QB this season, so it's surprising to see the lack of running game through the first seven weeks.
Hall has rushed 95 times for a total of 348 yards. He has only rushed for over 65 yards once this season and that was against a Bills team that was depleted on defense. In 2023, over the first seven games with a less talented team and even a harder schedule Hall had two games over 120 yards rushing and they resulted in Jet wins.
He hasn't been bad every game though. Last week, versus a vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers defense, Hall supplemented his 38 yards rushing with over 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. The 23-year-old is still the dynamic RB we all have watched for the last two years, the Jets' offense just needs to keep feeding him.
Aaron Rodgers is a 40-year-old QB who clearly doesn't look the same coming off the Achilles injury. Now, he is dealing with a hamstring injury to go along with knee injuries. If the Jets have any hope of going on a run to the playoffs, they need to run the ball effectively.

Rookie Braelon Allen hasn't been utilized much during the season but has taken advantage of the opportunities so far. Over the first 4 weeks of the season, Allen was No.
1 rated NFL rusher by Pro Football Focus . He hasn't seen the field much since for some weird reason, but at the time, he was averaging 5.1 yards per carry on 19 attempts for 96 yards.
His 4.11 yards after contact were also a huge factor in the Jets being able to move the chains. The youngest player in the NFL has been great, but he's not the electric player that Hall is.
Hall displayed his explosion on the 40+ yard reception and the 50+ yard run he had versus the Bills on Monday Night Football. The talent is there, Hall just has to execute, and the Jets need him to do so.
