An incident involving Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout and a Houston Astros fan in the stands ended with peace. In the second inning on Saturday, Trout appeared to track down a ball that went into the right field stands for a catch in foul territory. But the right fielder seemed to have the ball pulled from his glove, harkening back to the New York Yankees fans who did it much more violently with Mookie Betts.
But the fan put his hands up as if to indicate that he wasn't trying to do it maliciously. Replays showed that the fan caught the ball first in foul territory, and therefore it's a foul ball. The fan apologized and as Jared Whalen told The Athletic , “I didn’t realize it was a play.
It was coming at my son’s face. I just reached out.” Trout heard the apology and went to meet with Whalen and his son: Classy all around.
