Mumbai: With the Mahayuti and MVA alliances gearing up for a high-stakes electoral battle, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Saturday talked about the importance of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. Speaking at a rally in Sewri, Mumbai, Thackeray declared that these elections are vital for the future of both Mumbai and the state. “This poll will be the most important poll of our life.

This poll is not (about) getting back our symbol and the party or for Uddhav Thackeray or me. This poll is important for Maharashtra and Mumbai,” Thackeray told the gathered supporters. Criticism of BJP’s Policies During his address, Aaditya Thackeray criticised the BJP for allegedly shifting significant investments from Maharashtra to Gujarat, accusing the ruling party of “crushing the dreams” of the state’s youth.

He specifically talked about how this move could harm Maharashtra's economic prospects and job opportunities. Dharavi Redevelopment and Civic Achievements Thackeray also touched upon the impact of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project on the wider Mumbai region. He claimed that the project’s outcome would influence the city’s future, urging voters to consider its significance.

Reflecting on the Shiv Sena's tenure in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Thackeray said, “When Shiv Sena took charge of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in 1997, it had a Rs 600 crore deficit. But the civic body is in Rs 92,000 crore surplus now.” He attributed this financial turnaround to Shiv Sena's effective governance over the years.

Concerns Over Coastal Redevelopment Aaditya Thackeray further alleged that the current state government plans to hand over prime coastal lands, particularly in Koliwadas (fishing villages), to a “favourite builder” under the guise of cluster redevelopment. He insisted that redevelopment of Gaothans and Koliwadas should only proceed after gaining the residents' trust and approval. Roadshow in WorliTo drum up support, Thackeray also led a roadshow in his Worli assembly constituency, joined by AAP MP Sanjay Singh.

The roadshow was met with enthusiastic crowds, as Thackeray rallied voters to back the Shiv Sena (UBT) in the upcoming polls. Maharashtra is set to go to the polls on November 20, with voting scheduled for all 288 constituencies. The results will be announced three days later, setting the stage for a decisive political showdown between the Mahayuti alliance and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
