Esther Musila shared that she left her banking job at 26 to become a stay-at-home mom. The businesswoman and singer explained on a podcast with her daughter, Gilda Naibei, “I chose to stay at home because you and your sibling had started school, but your schools were in opposite directions. I had a phobia about having someone else drive my kids, which made me fearful.
” CHECK OUT: She continued, “I decided to leave my job. My boss was surprised since I was only 26. They asked, ‘Where are you going?’ But I chose to pause my career because being able to drop you off and pick you up felt more fulfilling.
” After her second child, Musila had her third and noted that today’s generation has more flexibility, with options to work from home and still be present as a mother, unlike the 90s when it was often one or the other. Naibei expressed her gratitude for her mother’s sacrifice, saying, “Choosing to pause your career to raise us was a big decision. You did it with faith, trusting you could resume later.
” She reflected on how much mothers of her mother’s generation sacrificed for their families. Musila shared some of her concerns for her daughter’s generation, saying, “I don’t pressure you or say, ‘Now that you’re 30, find a man.’ But I wonder if people still have the patience to build and maintain relationships.
” Naibei acknowledged that men can feel intimidating, adding, “I tend to look for red flags, maybe even too much. I need to know what’s wrong before deciding if I can handle it.” Musila advised her daughter to focus on seeing the positives in people before the negatives.
