THE united front shown by the political leaders in Western Highlands Province has paved the way for business to invest in Mt Hagen city. This was evident last week when Bank South Pacific group of companies open its new branch at Dobel outside Mt Hagen. Provincial member of the province Wai Rapa, Hagen Open MP William Duma, Mul Bayier MP Jacob Maki and member for Tambul Nebilyer and Minister for Commerce, Win Daki were all present at the opening to show their confidence to the management of BSP group of companies of how they provide leadership at the political level.

Mr Duma, who is also the Minister for State Owned Enterprise officiated at the opening said the political leaders in the province were united to ensure more business investors to come into the province. “We all open MPs are working together with the provincial member Wai Rapa to bring this province forward,’’ he said. Mr Duma said they want to make Mt Hagen city a business hub for investors to come in and do more investment.

He said WHP doesn’t have the mineral resources like other upper Highlands provinces have. “We don’t have gold, oil and gas but we have the best location, thus we want to take advantage of it by making the environment conducive so that big businesses can come into Mt Hagen city and set up business here. “When business activities booming here, it will create a lot of spin off benefits and boost the economy for the province,” he said.

Mr Duma thanked the management of the BSP group of companies to open another branch in Mt Hagen. Meanwhile, he urged the people in the province to become law abiding citizens. Mr Duma said good attitude of the people lure business investors to do investment.

“On that note, I want to thank the local native tribe here at Dobel, the Yamka Pepka people for your good behaviour. “Your good conducts have resulted in this bank being set up here. “It’s not only this but other big business set up their base here because they enjoy the conducive environment,’’ he said Mr Rapa said he is working together with his MPs in the province to move the province to the next level in terms of business investment.
