The Traitors has returned to our screens with the first episode of its new series airing on the BBC on New Year’s Day but four contestants have already left. In a test of deception, The Traitors contestants work to eliminate traitors in the hopes that only faithfuls will win the prize pot – if a traitor wins, they get all the cash and the remaining faithfuls are left with nothing at the end of the show. The first episode saw 25 new people begin the challenge but only 22 could stay, with the group having to choose which three contestants would leave.
Also in the episode, the traitors were chosen by presenter Claudia Winkleman and they committed their first ‘murder’, meaning another contestant left the show, making it four in the first episode. Who left The Traitors last night? In the first challenge before the contestants had arrived at their destination, Jack, Fozia and Alexander decided they would be the ones to leave the train carriages while on their way to the Scottish castle. Jack, 25 (24 when the series was filmed), is a market trader and landscaper from Yorkshire while Fozia is a 50-year-old community development manager from Birmingham. Alexander is a 38-year-old former British Diplomat and he joined the show because he loves "doing new things" and "it's a show with heart.

Speaking after leaving the show, Yin said: “Honestly, I’m still half in denial that it’s happened.
“It’s a lot sooner than I expected but I did know for a fact that if I was chosen as a faithful, which is more likely given the odds, that this was a very real possibility, so I did mentally and emotionally prepare myself for the worst possible outcome of leaving first. “The rug was pulled from under my feet and I just had to accept that this was the situation.” Recommended reading: What is Claudia Winkleman's net worth ahead of series 3 of The Traitors?
