The beloved Silver Surfer has finally made its way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps . With a new trailer out now, Julia Garner is seen stepping in as the galaxy-hopping herald, where her character would be seen earning the Fantastic Four, aka Pedro Pascal’s Mr.

Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn’s The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing. Even before the trailer launch, the makers had teased about First Steps having a fresh and unconventional take on Marvel’s First Family, and now the Silver Surfer’s entry has added more to the intrigue. Silver Surfer In The Fantastic Four: First Steps The trailer opens to show the superheroes being hailed by the people on Earth for their contribution to humankind, with Reed Richards and Sue Storm now expecting a baby.



However, an unexpected entry turns their world upside down when Julia Garner’s character arrives with a warning. “Your planet is now marked for death," she warns, only to wreak havoc on the Earth as the trailer progresses. A few more shots of the Silver Surfer have also been shown throughout, including one showing her flying on the board during an explosion.

But Who Is The Silver Surfer? While Laurence Fishburne previously voiced the character of Silver Surfer in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Garner will be seen playing a female version of the character named Shalla-Bal, who is the herald of Galactus. Marvel seems to have introduced a new character in the role. Traditionally, the Silver Surfer was shown as Norrin Radd, a notable figure from Zenn-La, who sacrifices himself to save his world from Galactus.

In exchange for saving Zenn-La and his beloved Shalla-Bal, he becomes the cosmic entity’s herald, transforming into the iconic silver figure. According to reports, the new Silver Surfer is not Radd but Shalla-Bal. Fans will have to wait a little longer to get some real answers.

Set to hit theatres in July this year, the film marks the Fantastic Four’s long-awaited debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is also the first time that characters will be coming on the big screen since 2015’s Fantastic Four..
